the reason why blogs proliferate

I found it in an article on the problem with education ("The Lost Tools of Learning") presented by Miss Dorothy Sayers at Oxford in 1947. You can read the whole here.

That I, whose experience of teaching is extremely limited, should presume to discuss education is a matter, surely, that calls for no apology. It is a kind of behavior to which the present climate of opinion is wholly favourable. Bishops air their opinions about economics; biologists, about metaphysics; inorganic chemists, about theology; the most irrelevant people are appointed to highly technical ministries; and plain, blunt men write to the papers to say that Epstein and Picasso do not know how to draw.

Pacific Fleet in Vanuatu

There is a couple of ships from the Pacific Partnership 2011 Fleet anchored off the coast just near us.

They've been running medical clinics and the like at the local school.

The whole community is very grateful for their visit. People have been lining up in droves and walking very long distances in order to get medical and dental work done.

all the mod cons

Yesterday we installed the latest in modern technology...

Hoping it will make a difference next time we have to hand-wash in the middle of wet season.
